Delayed discussion of Honey Baby Sweetheart by Deb Caletti.

Evening group discussion was held last night, postponed from the previous week when I had an unexpected tooth extraction. I thought that would be better than having you make out what I was saying with a swollen jaw and bloody gauze stuffed in my mouth, but as it turns out, the gum infection spead to my sinuses, so I was still more or less unitelligible last night. With five members attending, and some great pistachio dessert prepared by Lisa Jensen, we had kind of a quiet discussion. Talk centered around the relationships in the book, especially why we fall for "bad boys" and why it takes so long to come to our senses. Group members seemed to especially like the nursing home breakout plan and execution and the antics of the Casserole Queeens on the road trip to reunite Lillian and Charles. Lori Lundblad previewed the book for next month Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. The book deals with the colonization of Nigeria and the effect on a particular family and village. Lori felt this book was interesting on a number of levels from the bigger sociological issues to the choices individuals are forced into.
